So, Nora and I made a little trip to Portugal last week. We were invited to the Modtissimo fashion fair in Porto during Porto fashion week. The meaning of the trip was to find possible manufacturing places and fabric suppliers from Portugal.
We were a group of 11 people attending the fair from Finland and Estonia, mostly designers in the fashion field. Our flights, transportations, hotels, luches and tickets for the fair were all taken care of beforehand so basicly we only prepared ourselves to attend the fair and enjoy the city (which was very beautiful by the way).
For us the trip was very useful as we got to know a few very promising manufacturers. We also found a large selection of fabrics for our future collections which was like winning in a lottery as finding the right kind of fabrics has been a challenge for us. I wonder how full our office is going to get from all of the samples that we ordered from the manufacturers, haha.
We also got the chance to visit one manufacturing place approx. 50km away from the Modtissimo fair. The owner and a worker took care of our transportations, presented us the factory and also told us facts about Portugal in general. The visit was very interesting and the company seemed to be a promising and a reliable partner to work with.
Although the trip was too short (as they always are), we also managed to enjoy the city or at least its restaurants and shops. It was nice to take a few days off in this beautiful country before the launch of our online store. Even though the trip was about business and we had to work on the launch also, it’s always nicer to work in a different environment, especially when it's 20 degrees warmer than in Finland!
Okay, maybe now is the time for the pictures (that we actually didn’t take so much, boo) so you don't have to read this crap anymore. Haha.
