JULJA Women: Viivi Rousku

Viivi Rousku is a 21-year-old lady who is currently pursuing to study law. She enjoys jogging and going to the gym. Her greatest dream is to be able to live a long and a healthy life, have a family and live happily. She would also like to travel and see the world. Australia is on top of her list, because of its beauty and people. Being able to go to a needy country for voluntary work is also something she is keen on doing.

Viivi found out about JULJA through a friend and got the chance to participate in our JULJA Women Campaign at Kontti last May. Take a look at Viivi dressed in JULJA.

Modtissimo @ Portugal

So, Nora and I made a little trip to Portugal last week. We were invited to the Modtissimo fashion fair in Porto during Porto fashion week. The meaning of the trip was to find possible manufacturing places and fabric suppliers from Portugal.

We were a group of 11 people attending the fair from Finland and Estonia, mostly designers in the fashion field. Our flights, transportations, hotels, luches and tickets for the fair were all taken care of beforehand so basicly we only prepared ourselves to attend the fair and enjoy the city (which was very beautiful by the way).

For us the trip was very useful as we got to know a few very promising manufacturers. We also found a large selection of fabrics for our future collections which was like winning in a lottery as finding the right kind of fabrics has been a challenge for us. I wonder how full our office is going to get from all of the samples that we ordered from the manufacturers, haha.

We also got the chance to visit one manufacturing place approx. 50km away from the Modtissimo fair. The owner and a worker took care of our transportations, presented us the factory and also told us facts about Portugal in general. The visit was very interesting and the company seemed to be a promising and a reliable partner to work with.

Although the trip was too short (as they always are), we also managed to enjoy the city or at least its restaurants and shops. It was nice to take a few days off in this beautiful country before the launch of our online store. Even though the trip was about business and we had to work on the launch also, it’s always nicer to work in a different environment, especially when it's 20 degrees warmer than in Finland!

Okay, maybe now is the time for the pictures (that we actually didn’t take so much, boo) so you don't have to read this crap anymore. Haha.

Feelings at the moment

(The same post in our own blog --> click here to see it!)

It's been quite a hustle with the grand opening of our online store and the hustle still continues, so I don't have that much time to write to guys. First of all, thanks for everyone who made this possible. Without the help of so many people we wouldn't be here today. We're super excited and happy about the positive feedback that we've gotten from the online store. And of course about the orders!! The first ones are already on their way to you! We're continuously developing our websites and social media channels so your comments are more than welcomed.

Ps. Did you notice an article about JULJA on Tyyli.com today? ;) (Sorry, only in Finnish)

Behind the scenes

Last Tuesday we had a photoshoot with a talented young photographer, Mikko Puttonen. In these shoots we combined our second hand clothes and clothes from Premiere -collection. We had two very amazing locations to take these photos so we were all quite excited when this day finally arrived.

Our model, Noora arrived from Helsinki early in the morning. After hair and make up was done and we had gathered all the necessary equipment for the shoot, we headed towards our first location. Sarianna Sormunen was the person behind the make up and hair of our model.

We started from Nordkalk quarry at Parainen which was an amazing and unique location to shoot. Although it was quite windy and cold at the top, we got amazing photos and had a good time. After that we moved to one amazing looking roof so we didn't get away from the wind. The weather was perfect for the mood that we wanted to be in the pictures. For once you could actually be thankful for the dark and cloudy sky, haha.

These pictures tell you maybe more about the day so take a look.

(Looks like the CEO ate a few donuts, haha.)

We owe a huge thanks for all who made this photoshoot possible. So THANK YOU! Let's wait for the amazing pictures to be published ;)
